SSAT

Overview

The SSAT is an exam taken by students applying to private middle school and high school.  The tests are significantly different and PREP U can assess a student’s strengths and weaknesses to determine which test is a better fit.  Then, set out a plan of attack to help these newbies to standardized tests get comfortable with the exam and perform to his or her potential on test day.

General info on the SSAT:

The Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT) is a multiple-choice aptitude test for students in grades 5-11. It is administered on two levels: Lower (for students currently in grades 5-7) and Upper (for students currently in grades 8-11).

The test consists of verbal, math and reading comprehension sections. The verbal questions test your vocabulary, verbal reasoning, and ability to relate ideas logically. The math questions test your ability to solve problems involving arithmetic, elementary algebra and geometry. In addition, the test includes an ungraded essay, which accompanies each SSAT score report you submit.

ISEE

General info on the ISEE:

The ISEE is an admission test that has three levels: a Lower Level (for students currently in grades 4 and 5), Middle Level (for students currently in grades 6 and 7), and upper Level (for students currently in grades 8-11).

At all levels, the ISEE consists of verbal and quantitative reasoning, reading comprehension and math achievement, and an ungraded essay, which accompanies each ISEE report you submit.

HSPT

Overview:

The HSPT, or High School Placement Test, is a Catholic high school entrance exam. It is a five-part, 298 question test for eighth graders. Students are given 2 hours and 30 minutes to complete the exam.

It is broken into 5 sections: Verbal; Quantitative; Reading; Mathematics; and Language Skills. This very fast-paced test covers many topics. With a little bit of know-how and an informed pacing strategy, students can achieve their goal scores and beyond.
